Boudoir Photo Shoot FAQs
What is boudoir?
Boudoir is a French word that translates to “Woman’s dressing room or changing room”. Boudoir photography is the images you might see in a women’s stages of dress or undress. This can mean fully clothed or you in your lingerie, it could also be implied nudity or even nude. It should be classic, timeless and a tease.
Will I be Nude?
Totally up to you! There are many kinds of Boudoir photography, we will talk about the different kinds during your free consult. And we will shoot whatever your comfortable doing and no more!
What should I bring?
Most clients bring 5-7 outfits and multiple pairs of shoes and we can choose the looks together based on what you love and feel most confident in. Some clients like to bring props, a photo, a letter, a favorite jersey or musical instrument – we can chat about ideas during your consultation.
I’m self-conscious about my body – will you help?
I’m here to help you look, feel and own your beauty. We will work on poses and angles that flatter and compliment you. We can talk about specific areas you’d like to avoid and areas you’d like to focus on.
How long is a Session?
Depends on the package you choose, but on average two hours. Typically, we shoot for ninety minutes which allows for multiple outfits.
What do you edit?
I will choose and edit the best images from our session. Editing includes cropping, color correction, eye brightening, teeth whitening, blemish removal, (I can remove any birthmarks you want to be removed) I DO NOT USE LIQUIFY or any other comparable tool change the shape of your body – you are beautiful and if I have done my job right posing and light there is nothing to change!
What happens to the photos you don’t choose?
I delete them after delivery. They have not been chosen for a reason! Bad light, closed eye, strange expression.
How do I get my images?
Once I have edited them (seven to fourteen days) I send you a link to a page only you or someone you give the link to can see. From there you select the images you’d like to have in your album and/or which you’d like for prints.
Where do we shoot our session?
Depending on where you’re located we can use one of several studios I use or we can shoot at your home or in a hotel.
Are we alone during our shoot?
Depending on the package you pick there may be a hairdresser, a make-up artist, or a posing coach. If you wish you are free to bring an escort to the shoot
Does anyone else see my photos?
NO. However, once you see the images, I will ask if there are any images you are willing to let me use in my portfolio. If you agree I will have you sign a release that will spell out what images and what I can use them for. If you say no, that’s the end of it.
Any other helpful hints?
Get a good night’s sleep the night before and if possible sleep in the nude without any jewelry to avoid any lines or indentations in your skin, and please wear a loose fitting outfit to the shoot if possible without a bra on! Drink plenty of fluids in the week before your shoot and be yourself! Wake up early the day of your shoot so you have plenty of time for your face to de-puff. DO NOT SPRAY TAN and avoid strange tan lines in the month prior to your shoot!
Why is this so pricey?
This is my job and I am good at it. I shoot with top of the line gear, pay for the best software to edit your photos, and while we may only shoot 90 minutes, from the initial consult I typically spend between ten to twelve hours on each client.
